CHASSIS INSTANTIATION
From Constituted Structure to Operable Form
A chassis is not the finished artifact.
It is the constituted structure capable of carrying further state, relation, instruction, or operation without requiring its foundation to be rebuilt.
BASIS establishes what a chassis may legitimately be.
MICRO may instantiate it.
The distinction is constitutional. Specification and execution must not collapse into one another.
Material Before Chassis
Every chassis inherits the capabilities and limitations of the matter from which it is made.
An instruction cannot give porcelain ductility.
A specification cannot give wool the compressive behavior of steel.
A desired result cannot confer upon glass a property its constituted material state does not possess.
MICRO therefore begins with what is actually available.
Its resolution may descend through:
ELEMENT → MATERIAL → STRUCTURE
until the properties relevant to the proposed chassis are sufficiently known.
The purpose of this descent is not reduction for its own sake.
MICRO takes constituted matter only as far down as necessary to determine what may reliably be built from it.
Chassis
A chassis is an organized structure prepared to carry something further.
It may carry:
components;
state;
instructions;
loads;
interfaces;
relations;
encoded constraints;
subsequent transformations.
The chassis constrains what it carries without determining everything that may eventually be carried.
This is what distinguishes chassis from finished form.
A chassis provides stable possibility.
Chassis Specification
The specification belongs to BASIS.
It identifies the constitutional requirements that an instantiated chassis must satisfy, including as applicable:
material class and condition;
required geometry;
structural relations;
interfaces and attachment points;
tolerances;
load conditions;
environmental constraints;
required invariants;
permitted variation;
and failure boundaries.
The specification describes the admissible structure.
It does not claim that the structure has been realized.
Instantiation
Instantiation is the realization of a chassis specification in a particular artifact.
Where MICRO is required, it resolves the specification into sufficiently granular operations and performs or coordinates the operations within its authority.
The sequence is:
SPECIFICATION → RESOLUTION → CONSTRUCTION → STATE VERIFICATION → INSTANCE
The resulting chassis is not valid merely because construction completed.
Its resulting state must remain distinguishable from the specification against which it was instantiated.
Where the state cannot be sufficiently resolved, MICRO does not supply the missing result by inference.
The unresolved condition remains visible.
Dross and Available Matter
MICRO need not begin with pristine inputs.
It may receive residue, fragments, discarded structures, recovered material, digital scrap, incomplete components, or other matter whose eventual use has not been determined.
This is dross.
Dross does not mean worthless matter.
It means matter whose useful constitutional relation has not yet been resolved.
MICRO may characterize, separate, sort, shape, combine, encode, or otherwise prepare such matter within declared constraints.
Care may increase usefulness.
Processing may reveal capability.
Arrangement may produce structure.
But no amount of attention authorizes MICRO to attribute properties that the underlying matter does not possess.
Potential may be developed. Material truth may not be negotiated.
Candidate Chassis
More than one chassis may satisfy the same originating requirement.
MICRO may therefore instantiate, simulate, or compare candidate structures where its route authorizes those operations.
Comparison occurs against declared criteria.
MICRO does not silently substitute its own preferences for those criteria.
A candidate may be evaluated for such properties as:
structural integrity;
material efficiency;
tolerance;
durability;
recoverability;
execution cost;
interface compatibility;
or other explicitly constituted measures.
Aesthetic evaluation may also occur where an applicable office or declared metric supplies the relevant criterion.
MICRO records the comparison.
It does not convert preference into physical law.
Operational Resolution
Not every chassis requires MICRO.
A sufficiently constituted chassis may proceed directly within another Federation office.
MICRO is invoked when the work requires granular characterization, decomposition, state transition, primitive execution, or operational routing.
When invoked, MICRO asks:
What is the smallest useful unit at which this work must be resolved?
No smaller resolution is constitutionally superior merely because it is smaller.
The proper resolution is the one sufficient to perform the declared work faithfully.
Routing
Instantiation does not determine ultimate destination.
A completed chassis may proceed according to its standing and declared purpose.
It may enter GAMECRAFT for simulation.
It may enter ATELIER for refinement.
It may return to BASIS where constitutional comparison or further substrate definition is required.
It may proceed elsewhere through the Federation where its standing permits.
An unresolved unit may instead enter BASECELL.
MICRO resolves the unit and routes the work.
It does not convert routing authority into ownership of the artifact.
Lineage
Instantiation creates a new state without erasing the states from which it arose.
Where transformation affects identity or standing, the resulting instance retains a sufficient recoverable path to its originating materials, specification, consequential transformations, and prior constitutional relations.
MICRO records the transition.
LOOM preserves the thread.
Thus chassis instantiation may create something genuinely new without requiring its ancestry either to disappear or to remain physically attached.
Constitutional Boundary
MICRO may:
resolve;
characterize;
instantiate;
execute;
compare;
route;
record.
MICRO may not manufacture missing material capability, silently expand a specification, invent an undeclared criterion, or treat successful execution as authority over subsequent disposition.
Canonical Principle
BASIS defines what the chassis may be.
MICRO, when required, resolves how it may be instantiated.
The resulting chassis carries forward what comes next without pretending to determine it.
